Floodproof your home against every storm.
(Original article published May 2020 – Updated May 2021)
Flooding costs are measured in heartache and hard dollars. According to FloodSmart.gov, just one inch of water can cause $25,000 worth of damage to your home.
Interactive Flood Cost Tool
FEMA, through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), has compiled information about the costs of flooding into an interactive online tool that you can find here. You can use this tool to calculate the approximate cost by estimating your house size and the inches of water.
Flood Loss Cost Chart
In addition, they have a chart showing a few house size scenarios to see what you might face in terms of losses in the form of “Cost to Home, Cost to Personal Property, and Combined Loss Potential”. Click the link ‘The Big Cost of Flooding’ on this FEMA page.
How can I prepare?
It’s important to take the necessary proactive steps to help prevent loss, damage, and trauma from flash flooding and hurricanes. Take a look at the preparation steps outlined in our previous blog on Hurricane Preparedness here.
How can P3 help?
Home Elevation | Flood Home Reconstruction

P3 Elevation can quickly provide a cost comparison of elevating your home versus the hard costs of damage, disruption, displacement, and ever-rising flood insurance premiums. We’ll even help you calculate comparison costs.
Through grant programs, P3 can also help with home reconstruction for communities who have qualified for the programs.
April 2020, P3 broke ground on a new home development in Dickinson, Texas where homes will be elevated 10 feet. Two of the home plans in this Lovell Park Development are also available for flood home reconstruction grants. These homes are being built in an area of Texas that have repeatedly flooded. These new homes will keep the homeowners above the flood.
Short-term vs. long-term storm preparedness
We always talk about preparing for a storm in the weeks before hurricane and rainy seasons, but we should start thinking about preparedness as a long-term goal. If you live in or near areas that are prone to flooding, you might want to think about options that will keep your home and your family high and dry forever. We can help with that.

Hurricane season starts June 1st. We can’t stop rising water, but lifting your home above the threat of flooding is a problem P3 Elevation can solve.
