City of Houston: House Lifting Grant
The City of Houston has partnered with the Texas Water Development Board and will submit a grant application on behalf of homeowners to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for home elevation grants. This grant will request funds for the elevation of the most flood-prone homes.
Most of the grant programs for home elevation funding are allocated to political subdivisions (Cities, Counties, Special Districts, etc.). Homeowners are not able to apply directly for most grants.
They can contact their local floodplain administrator (Download list here: Floodplain Administrator Community List), or other local officials to find out about their community’s interest in applying for a home elevation grant.
This grant program for the City of Houston is in progress and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
